Computational Neuroscience

Learning Goals

The student will acquire the basic knowledge of
what computation by neurons means and how it
can possibly be reproduced in computer models,
expecially deep learning models.
The focus will be on Visual cortex and object
recognition although the emergence of grid cells
in the hippocampus will also be part of the course.

Program in pills

Neurons and biologically plausible computations. Visual cortex and image recognition. Biologically plausible neural networks: learning invariance and equivariance. Class specific brain areas. Face recognition. Hippocampus and grid cells.
